Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

The candidate must be an Indian citizen and should not have obtained citizenship, permanent residency, or a green card of another country.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age as on 1 January 2026: 18 years
  • Maximum age as on 1 January 2026: 28 years
  • SC and Backward Class candidates who are residents of Punjab get up to 5 years relaxation, so the upper age can go up to 33 years.
  • Regular employees of Punjab Government, other State Governments, or the Central Government also get up to 5 years relaxation, up to 33 years.
  • Ex-servicemen get age relaxation as per the service deduction rule mentioned in the notification.

Educational Qualification

  • 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board or university
  • For ex-servicemen, the minimum qualification is Matriculation
  • The qualification must be attained on or before 1 January 2026

Punjabi Language Requirement

All candidates must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or must have an equivalent Punjabi language qualification recognized by the Punjab Government.

Important: The PST and PMT are qualifying in nature. If a candidate fails even one required event for the applicable category, the candidate is disqualified from the next stage.

The recruitment process has three stages:

There is no negative marking. After normalization, candidates from SC, BC, EWS and Ex-servicemen categories need 35% in Paper I, while other categories need 40%.
